UCO - Mitchell Hall - Sep 2nd/3rd 2005

Another great Oklahoma University location.

The Setting
Central Oklahoma, Edmond

We had been contacted by our good friend Donna from the Pollad Theatre in Guthrie about another possibly haunted location, Mitchell Hall on UCO campus.

Apparently there have been numerous sightings and reports throughout the years. Comming from Donna, we knew we had to check this one out! It just happen to come at our busiest time of the year, Halloween season. Several changes within the group had been takeing place recently, so things seemed a bit chaotic at times, but we were determined to get through this Halloween season successfully.

This was to be the first investigation including our new OPRA members, the PROS team. Also, this was to be the first investigation where we had a dedicated videographer, our new member Brandon. By design, Brandon's function allowed me (EriK) to be freed up to help with other aspects. Since the planning of the investigation, the we were all excited, and ready to get to work.

Andy was Lead on this investigation, so he was naturally in charge of protocol and coordination, he did a super fine job I might add! Once onsite, we were expected to wait until the production crew completed their work for the night, and left the building. This provided a late start time, which was great since we all had to work that day.

After work, I headed home, and finished gathering my gear which I had started the night before. I also worked a bit on the DVR setup, which went down on us some time back. I tried 3 differnt motherboards, and 2 differnt power supplies, and could not get the device to work. I finally abandoned the effort to move on to more pressing issues.

Shortly after, Logan arrives at the house since he decided to ride with Laura and myself. We sat arond and chatted a bit, and eventually the subject came up of strange events that had occured that very day. Now I'm not trying to draw any conlcusions here, mearly stating the strange factors that were noted on this day that just happened to be an investigatin night.

After arriving home from work, I was told that our sons' gamesystems were not working. Ok, I could understand 1 or 2 systems going out, but all five? We have 2 playstation 2s, 1 xbox, and 2 gamecubes. Eventually we got all the issues worked out, and they were operating again, but was unusual that all systems were inoperable at the same time for completely different reasons.

As we stood on the porch discussing this, I realized that I had another strange occurance earlier in the day at work. I had noticed my voicmail light on my phone was on, so I dialed into the message system to receive my message. To my surprise, the message playing was a ringing phone. As I was listening, I thought "This is strange", about that time Laura answers saying hello several times, but obviously not getting and response back. Stranger still, I had been away from my desk for several hours during the time period that is happend.

I used my favorite quote from Justin "maybe it was a ghost". We put it behind us, and progressed on to the nights events.

We headed out and arrived onsite a bit early to find that Mary had already been there for a bit. Everyone esle showed up whortly thereafter, and Andy begun delegating protocol specifics. Very little was known about the site prior to the investigation which is the way we prefer it to happen. On this occasion it proved important once again as Mary was able to pick up on a few things that were indeed correlated later on.

Team One went in first where I was team leader. I assigned Ron temperature duty while Cross had Photos, audio, and Radio responsibility. Jeremy was backup audio and backup EMF. I was in charge of documentation, and primary EMF. First sweep was pretty non-eventful, one SA on rear exit door, and two 0.4 spikes on the gaussmaster in the sound booth that were unreproducable.

As we exited stage right, I noticed a shadow that appeared to be the figure of a man. Everyone else came through the area, but didn't say anything. After the sweep was completed, I made a point to go back to the area to see if there was a false postive explanation. The figure was still there. I could find anything casting a shadow, but the mere fact that the anomaly remained, was enough to make me discount it.

Team two went in second, and had a basically uneventful sweep as well. I found it interesting that they picked up on the shadow figure in the same area as I did.
