The Setting
Although it was the Halloween season, and we were already busy as usual, I couldn't wait for the trip to Murrell. This pre-civil war home has stood the test of time, and remains as a monument to the struggles this state has gone through. Now owned and operated as a museum by the Oklahoma Historical Society, the home has been beautifully restored, and well taken care of. We were to caravan from my house to Talequah. As we waited for Ron and Becky to arrive at the house, it began to rain...hard. No problem, we figured that by the time we made it on down the highway, the rain would let up and perhaps move farther north. It wasn't to be. The rain pounded the vehicles the entire trip. Naturally, travel time took longer than planned, but we eventually arrived at the site well after nightfall. Having such a tight schedule, we got started immediately, and stayed until we absolutely had to leave. Fairly quiet trip, but look forward to a return visit in the near future! The History
