The Setting
Although this investigation came about rather quickly, I was definitely looking forward to getting back to Muskogee to visit Mary as well as check out the old abandoned building. From what little is known about the place, it has served many purposes throughout its years. Once upon a time, it would have been an extravagant hotel for the upperclass of the latter old west period. Throughout the years, times change as does areas, and the hotel slowly succumbed to its final destiny as low/no income apartment housing in one of the worst sections of the city. The building has been on the local police hotlist for some time. Being abandoned since at least 1988, there have been multiple murders, suicides, overdoses, and just about any other type of negative event you can think of. Recently bought by a new owner within the last year, he wishes to renovate this building and bring it back into the mainstream with grand ideas for the once elite structure to stand proud again. Mary had checked out the building the prior week, and unexpectedly captured some amazing data. She had gone to document the layout, and find locate natural sources of false EMF. This being done on an audio recorder, also recorded other voices that weren.t physically present. One of which is the best EVP I have ever heard. Please see the EVP section of this page for further details. The original plan was to get to Mary.s house not too long after she got off work to allow us ample time to accomplish anything we deemed necessary. Of course best laid plans are not always the plans that workout. Our departure from the city was delayed by about an hour and thirty minuets, with a projected 2 hour drive time, would put us there just before five pm. Little did I know that during the drive Laura would decide that she had to have some truckstop chicken. We passed numerous KFC and MacDonalds, but nooo, it had to be that chicken that was cooked at 9 am and kept under heat lamps until the unsuspecting half starved trucker wandered in. The problem was that not all truckstops had the fabled chicken. This meant pulling off the highway and searching at each one. Eventually, we found the right station and purchased the sinewy, poor excuse for fried chicken tenders. The name chicken tender alone advertises the juicy, marinated, boneless strips of chicken nirvana, but a single bite, and one realizes that truckstop chicken is not constrained by rules of normalcy. Back on the road and cruising, Laura manages to each as much as she can muster and claims to be content. About an hour later, and myself several meat sticks heavier, we arrive at Mary.s place. First we meet Ken in the drive, and normal greetings are exchanged. His handshake never faltering, I noticed he seemed a bit leaner, and well tanned from the many hours on the construction site. We followed him to the house to say hi to Mary, and learn what news we could of Merlyn and Andy. The plan had been for Laura and I to head on to Mary.s and Merlyn and Andy would head up soon after due to work schedules. Our timetable had now been pushed back a couple of hours, so I had half expected us to arrive at nearly the same time. After half an hour of sitting around chit-chatting and giving equal attention to each dog. Mary decides to give Andy a call to see how they are progressing. Turns out that they were just hitting the road. Mary decided that those of us there would go eat at the local Mexican restaurant to pass time until Andy and Merlyn arrive. The food was excellent, and after a bit of trickery by Ken and Mary to pay my bill, we head back to the house content and ready for a full night. We had about thirty minutes until we were scheduled to meet with the building owner, yet Merlyn and Andy were no where to be seen. Luckily enough, about twenty minutes later, the two guys come strolling in. Hurried greetings and clothes changing take place as we scramble to load the equipment and get on the road in time to meet the owner. There is nothing much worse than being late to meet an individual who is giving up their free time to allow us access to a location. After out-running a train.(Not really, but it sounded good!) we arrive on ALMOST on time. Set back into a neighborhood, the building occupied a fairly decent sized corner lot. Its main entrance facing the intersection as many of the buildings during that time period did. The first floor appeared to have been divided into several small shops along the perimeter. A doorway in between these shops led to a stairwell that took us to the second and third level apartments. Sitdown Video . Room 12 Friday June 10th 22:52 . Start No anomalies noted Sitdown Video .
